My kids are always looking for excuses to get chocolate frogs, so I got some chocolate frogs for them as a special treat. You see it in the beginning of the book and at the end of the book. The other big important thing we keyed off of was the frog. Then we made fly fishing poles using whip licorice and pretzel sticks, and some gummy worm bait to go with our fishing poles. Going fishing was a big part of the story, and a couple key scenes happen while going fishing, and my kids love goldfish crackers, Swedish fish, and fish for dinner. There’s not a lot of things that specifically lend themselves to special snacks, but the few things that were key had some fun snack ideas to do with it. I watched it for the first time with the kids, which was really kind of fun. There’s two big things we discussed with Tuck Everlasting:ġ. People talk about stopping aging, but prior to reading this book at 10 years old I had never really thought about what it would be like to live forever. Tuck Everlasting has been adapted into two feature films, released in 19, and has been adapted three times into unabridged audio books: by Listening Library/Random House in 1988 and narrated by Peter Thomas, by Recorded Books in 1993 and narrated by Barbara Caruso, and by Audio Bookshelf in 2001 and narrated by Melissa Hughes. This is the first time I really stopped to think about the consequences of living forever. There are a lot of big questions asked in this book. Winnie follows their life as she decides whether or not she will keep their secret, and can she join them or should she return to her family. Here she meets the Tucks-their father Angus (William Hurt), mother Mae (Sissy Spacek), the elder brother Miles (Scott Bairsotw) and the dark-haired, teenager Jesse (Jonathan Jackson) who she encountered at the spring. However, when she asks for a sip, the tired girl is roughly hauled off to an untidy hovel tucked in a grove of trees on the edge of a pristine lake. Pushing through the underbrush, she stumbles upon a young man drinking from a pool of clear water at the base of a gigantic tree. But before long her anger is spent and the petulant runaway is lost.
